About Me

Hello

I’m Eimear Murton

I am passionate about education and believe that with the right support every child can reach their academic potential and thrive.

I enjoy working with young people and helping them develop into confident  learners, proud of their achievements. I love when they share with me the moment they’re the first with their hand up in class and are no longer afraid of being asked a question.

How Eimear’s Online Classroom started

I have been working in education for seventeen years, firstly as a full time primary teacher and for the last eight years as a tutor. I am mum to my two little boys who are eleven and eight. Initially I started tutoring when my second son was born and intended to return to the classroom once he started school, however my small business was thriving and I loved tutoring. I could see that there was great potential in teaching online and with that in mind I took a course in June 2019 on ‘How to tutor online and that’s when ‘Eimear’s Online Classroom’ was born.

“If we teach today as we taught yesterday,

we rob our children of tomorrow”.

I still occasionally get requests for face to face tuition as parents have had negative experiences of online learning. However, in the same way that not all face to face tutoring is equal, the same applies with online tutoring. Listen to these testimonials of how other parents have found their experiences with me.

My Background

Let me tell you a little more about me. I come from Ireland, hence the Irish name which is pronounced ‘ee-mer’.  I’m married to Ian and as well as being mum to my boys I also have a teenage step daughter.

My first degree was Art, I completed a BA (Hons) in Textile and Fashion Design and I love any opportunity to be creative.  I believe life should be filled with fun and chose to teach primary for the opportunities to adopt a play based approach.  I believe we should never stop playing and apart from forever chasing sunsets – like the beautiful one below – I love to play with hula hoops.  I’m lucky to have met some lovely flow arts people in the last few years who have taught me lots of new tricks, it’s one of my happy places.

I understand how busy modern family life is;  juggling work, kids clubs, dinners and homework.  Even though both my husband and I are teachers we haven’t been immune to our children’s reluctance to complete homework. Our saving grace has been that I’m primary trained and understand modern day teaching methods, I’ve always where possible slipped the learning in through play.   If you’d like help for your child or would like some guidance to support your child fill in your details below for a FREE initial consultation.
